The European Green Deal (the European Commission's new Action Plan for a Circular Economy, the new European Industrial Strategy and the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability launched in October 2020) is an ambitious plan to achieve a sustainable, fair and inclusive European Union's economy. In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
The specific strategy for Agriculture, Farm 2 Fork is aimed to:
Nanotechnology has the potential to become the driver of a technological revolution in agriculture. The “Nano-Enabled Agriculture" is expected to increase crop yields with lower environmental pressure and enhanced agroecosystem resilience.
The global trend towards the circularity of materials favors innovations in the sustainable natural material value chain. Bio-based materials from the circular economy have a huge potential for developing smart nanostructures, enabling a targeted release and delivery of nutrients, agrochemicals, and antimicrobials to crops to improve efficiency and preserve soil integrity function. |
