ABSTRACT
Piezo- and ferroelectricity are physical properties exhibited by a wide range of different materials, which are currently generating a huge interest and are under investigation both for fundamental and applied research (as for sensors and actuators). Piezoelectric Force Microscopy (PFM) is a scanning probe-based technique that allows to access unique spatially resolved and quantitative information on these materials. In this talk, an introduction about the main concepts and implementation of PFM experiments will be given, and results obtained with Park Systems microscopes on selected samples of scientific relevance will be shown.
