Smart Textiles are manufactured and designed to integrate technologies that offer the user greater functionality. The purpose of smart fabrics is to provide added value to the user, whether for pleasure, performance, or safety. These range from applications to health, safety, security, and lifestyle monitoring.

Starting with an overview of textiles featuring color-changing nanofibrous sensors, this symposium will then disclose the main aims of the ECOTEC project (PON ECOTEC – Fibre e tessuti intelligenti ed ECOsostenibili per l’abbigliamento TECnico – Avviso per la presentazione di progetti di ricerca industriale e sviluppo sperimentale nelle 12 Aree di Specializzazione individuate dal PNR 2015-2020, Area di Specializzazione Design, creatività e Made in Italy) through talks given by the industrial lead partner Klopman International SpA, by CNR and by Politecnico di Milano who aim at setting up a technological platform for the development of novel materials and industrial processes for the integration of flexible OLED light sources in technical fabrics for the active protection of the worker.
